AI Readiness for Finance
The AI Readiness for Finance exam proves you can use AI across the close, FP&A, audit, and procurement workflows without compromising the controls or the numbers that have to be defensible to leadership and external auditors.
Engineering teams have shipped AI copilots into every part of the stack; finance is the team that has to make sure the numbers in the close still tie out. This cert is the visible signal that you can be the finance pro who uses AI without breaking the controls auditors and the CFO depend on.

Who this cert is for
If you're starting in finance
Your manager wants you to learn the models, the controls, and the close cycle. Now there is a fourth thing on the list: how to use AI without letting it sneak a hallucinated number into a deck a CFO will quote in earnings. This cert tells your manager you arrived already understanding the difference between an AI memo draft and an AI-generated number, and which one is safe to trust.
If you've been in finance for years
AI tools are landing in your stack whether you wanted them or not. The pitch is that AI will do the variance commentary and free your team for strategic work. The honest version is that AI will draft plausible commentary that cites the wrong line item if no one in the close is calibrated to catch it. This cert is proof you are the person who catches it.
What you’ll prove
- Use AI to draft commentary, memos, and variance analysis with the verify-every-number discipline that survives audit.
- Distinguish between AI as a writing assistant (safe with review) and AI as a forecasting model (rarely safe without a deterministic backbone).
- Spot the explainability gap in AI-flagged fraud or anomaly cases that have to stand up in a controls conversation.
- Set vendor-evaluation criteria for finance AI tools that go beyond accuracy on a demo benchmark.
- Run AI-assisted procurement, AP/AR, and tax workflows with the right human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
What the exam covers
- Close, reporting, and AI-assisted commentary (6 questions)
- Audit, controls, and explainability (7 questions)
- Vendor, procurement, and AP/AR with AI (7 questions)
- AI as a finance tool. Where it helps, where it lies (7 questions)
- Forecasting, FP&A, and investment cases (9 questions)
- Tax, treasury, customer finance (8 questions)
- Capital allocation, strategy, executive comms (6 questions)
Sample questions
Real questions from the bank, in the same shape you’ll see in the exam. Correct answers are not shown.
- Q01Audit and controls
An AI tool helps detect potential fraud in transaction data. The single biggest control concern:
- Speed of the model.
- False positives that flag legitimate transactions, false negatives that miss real fraud, and lack of explainability for the cases the AI surfaces. Fraud-flag tools need calibration, not just deployment.
- Per-transaction cost.
- The dashboard branding.
- Q02AI as a finance tool
You use AI to draft an internal financial memo. Best finance-led discipline:
- Send it and move on.
- Verify every number against the source, every cited methodology against the actual methodology, and have a peer review before distribution. AI memos can mis-cite or invent.
- Skip the review since the model was confident.
- Trust the AI when it cites a number.
- Q03Forecasting
A leader asks Finance to use AI to forecast next quarter's revenue. The single biggest pitfall is:
- Output speed.
- LLMs hallucinate plausible numbers. Revenue forecasting belongs to deterministic models grounded in your pipeline, conversion rates, and historical seasonality.
- Token cost.
- Dashboard color.
Honest tradeoffs
- · Not a CFA, CPA, or CMA.
- · Not a tool certification. No QuickBooks, no NetSuite, no SAP.
- · Not a substitute for sector-specific regulatory training.
It is proof you can hold the line on numerical and control discipline as AI tools land in every finance workflow.
Frequently asked
- Does this replace the CFA or CPA?
- No. It is narrower and AI-specific. Take it alongside whichever credential your role requires; the verify URL signals you can handle AI in the close without breaking the controls.
- Do I need to know Python or SQL?
- No. The exam tests judgment about when to trust AI, when to audit, and where to keep humans in the loop. Tools change. The judgment travels.
- What if my company has banned AI in finance workflows?
- That ban will not last. This cert is proof you can argue for the right narrow use cases and the right guardrails when leadership reopens the question.
- How long is the cert valid?
- One year. The bank refreshes as the AI-in-finance landscape (especially regulator guidance) evolves.
- What if I fail?
- Pay $2 to retry once after the 2-hour gate. Fresh question subset on the retry.
- Will auditors recognize this credential?
- Not as a formal qualification. They will recognize it as a signal that the finance team understands the AI-tool risks they are increasingly asked about during fieldwork. The public verify URL at academy.juscode.co/c/<id> lets them confirm in one click during a walkthrough.
Before you start
- · You’ll capture the name on your certificate before the exam starts. It cannot be edited after publishing.
- · 45 min hard timer. The server auto-submits whatever’s answered when it expires.
- · One attempt per purchase. Fail it? Pay $2 to retry this cert once after the 2-hour gate. Pass it? You'll receive a 50% off coupon valid 30 days for your next Readiness cert.
- · Read the honor code. AI-assisted attempts may be reviewed and certificates revoked.
What this changes for you
Treasury asked you to evaluate three AI vendors for reconciliations and the demos all look great. You can spot accounting nonsense in a P&L, but you cannot quite tell when a model's summary is wrong in a way the auditor will catch.
You can name when an AI close needs a four-eye check, where the model will silently round, and which kinds of reconciliations you would never let it touch. The CFO trusts your AI vendor recommendation, in writing, because you have proof you can tell the difference.
Exam integrity & refund policy
