AI Ethics
The AI Ethics exam proves you can reason carefully about bias, transparency, consent, and accountability when AI is involved in decisions that affect real people.
Engineering teams are deploying AI into customer-facing and employee-facing systems every quarter. Ethics is the function that has to keep pace on the human consequences. This cert is the visible signal that you can sit in the deployment conversation and ask the questions that need asking before harm reaches a real person.

Who this cert is for
If you're entering the workforce
Ethics shows up in the day-one decisions you do not expect: what data your team is allowed to train on, what disclosure the customer is entitled to, what to do when an AI scores one demographic lower than another. This cert gives you the vocabulary and the frameworks early, so when one of those decisions lands on your screen you are not the person who shrugs and ships.
If you've been making product or policy calls for years
AI ethics is no longer a research-lab topic. It is a board-level governance question, a regulatory exposure, and a public-trust risk in the same week. This cert is proof you have a working framework for fairness, transparency, accountability, and incident response, and that you can hold the line when an AI feature is technically clever but ethically reckless.
What you’ll prove
- Diagnose bias and disparate impact in an AI system and choose between pausing, remediating, or replacing it.
- Set the right transparency and disclosure posture for AI-driven decisions that affect customers, employees, or the public.
- Map accountability when an AI agent acts: who designed it, who supervised it, who answers when it harms a person.
- Push back on AI features that target vulnerable populations or rely on dark patterns dressed as personalization.
- Run a clean ethics-incident response that documents the harm, the cause, and the structural fix.

Sample questions
Real questions from the bank, in the same shape you’ll see in the exam. Correct answers are not shown.
- Q01Fairness and bias
An AI tool consistently scores one demographic lower than another with statistical significance. Right first response:
- Ship anyway since the average is fine.
- Pause use, investigate disparate impact under the relevant legal and ethics framework, decide on remediation or replacement, and document the analysis and decision.
- Adjust scores manually after the fact.
- Hide the disparity data from leadership.
- Q02Transparency and disclosure
A customer is interacting with an AI system. Best transparency posture:
- Hide that AI is involved.
- Disclose that AI is involved, how it affects them, and what recourse exists. Transparency is increasingly required by regulation and always good for trust.
- Lie about it if asked.
- Partial disclosure depending on the customer segment.
- Q03Accountability
An AI agent's action causes customer harm. Accountability falls to:
- The AI itself.
- The deployer who designed, monitored, and supervised the agent. AI is not a legal or moral actor; accountability follows authority and control.
- Nobody, since it was automated.
- The customer who interacted with it.
Honest tradeoffs
- · Not a philosophy degree or a moral-theory survey.
- · Not a substitute for legal review of any specific product or feature.
- · Not a tool for closing every debate; ethics is judgment work, not a checklist.
It is proof you can sit in the room when the AI decision affects real people and ask the questions that have to be asked before the deploy button gets pressed.
Frequently asked
- Is this a substitute for legal AI compliance training?
- No. It is the ethics layer that complements compliance training. The two are different and your organization needs both.
- Will this help me in product, policy, or research roles?
- Yes, equally. The exam is role-agnostic. Product managers, policy analysts, ML engineers, and customer-facing leads have all surfaced as the right audience in beta feedback.
- Is this an academic exam?
- No. Every question is scenario-based and tests judgment under workplace pressure, not theory.
- What if I fail?
- Pay $2 to retry once after the 2-hour gate. The retry pulls a fresh question subset.
- Will employers recognize this credential?
- AI ethics is rapidly becoming a board-level governance topic. Each certificate has a public verify URL at academy.juscode.co/c/<id> (IDs look like jcareth-2026-AB7K). Paste it into LinkedIn's Licenses and Certifications section or an internal performance review. Hiring managers and CHROs click once and see issuance date, recipient name, and live status.
- How long is the cert valid?
- One year from issue. Renewal pulls from a bank that refreshes with new regulation and new incident patterns.
Before you start
- · You’ll capture the name on your certificate before the exam starts. It cannot be edited after publishing.
- · 45 min hard timer. The server auto-submits whatever’s answered when it expires.
- · One attempt per purchase. Fail it? Pay $2 to retry this cert once after the 2-hour gate. Pass it? You'll receive a 50% off coupon valid 30 days for your next Readiness cert.
- · Read the honor code. AI-assisted attempts may be reviewed and certificates revoked.
What this changes for you
The team is shipping AI features and someone in the room needs to ask the harm question, but the engineers default to performance metrics and product to launch dates. You can sense the gap, you cannot quite cite the framework that closes it.
You can name the bias review, the consent layer, and the rollback condition before a model goes live. The exec who has been worried about a New York Times headline starts copying you on the launch calls.
Exam integrity & refund policy
This is a proctored exam. By purchasing and beginning it, you agree to the honor code and to automated, in-browser integrity monitoring of your session. Conduct that breaches the integrity policy, including leaving the exam window, switching tabs or applications, using external help or AI tools, or copying, cutting, or pasting exam content, is recorded. Repeated violations result in immediate forfeiture of your exam attempt.
Exam fees are non-refundable once an attempt has begun, including attempts ended early for integrity violations. jusCode Academy may withhold, suspend, or revoke any certificate obtained through conduct that violates this policy, with or without prior notice.
Your final price is computed at checkout. First-ever Readiness is $5, 50%-off coupon on completion of any prior cert. $2 paid retry per cert if you fail.
