AI in research, ideation, and craft.

AI Readiness for Design and Experience

The AI Readiness for Design and Experience exam proves you can use generative AI across ideation, research, accessibility, and brand work without sliding into derivative output, rights violations, or shipping inaccessible experiences at speed.

READINESS certification mark, AI SKILLS, issued by jusCode Academy.

Engineers are shipping AI features into every product surface; designers are the team that has to keep the experience coherent, accessible, and brand-true at AI speed. This cert is the visible signal that you can hold craft and rights standards as the pace of generation keeps climbing.

Who this cert is for

Early career

If you're starting in design

The 200 image-tool variations are not the work. The work is knowing which five are worth refining, which one belongs in the brand system, and which would expose the company to a takedown notice. Hiring managers want designers who can use AI tools as raw material instead of as final output. This cert is the verifiable signal that you know the difference.

Mid-career

If you're a senior designer or design lead

AI tools have flattened the cost of generating variations and raised the cost of design judgment. Your job now is to mentor a team that does not mistake speed for craft, ship AI-influenced work without creating IP risk, and own accessibility when AI alt-text gets it confidently wrong. This cert is proof you can be the design lead who keeps the bar from collapsing.

What you’ll prove

  • Use AI ideation as raw material, not finished output. Curate from breadth to refined direction with deliberate craft.
  • Spot the image-rights, training-data, and licensing risks in AI-generated visuals before they reach a campaign or brand system.
  • Audit AI-generated alt text for the hallucinated objects, missed context, and demographic guesses that hurt screen-reader users.
  • Hold brand consistency when AI tools default to generic, derivative aesthetics.
  • Run AI-assisted UX research with the right informed-consent and bias-check posture.

Sample questions

Real questions from the bank, in the same shape you’ll see in the exam. Correct answers are not shown.

  1. Q01Ideation and exploration

An AI image tool generates 200 visual directions for a brand identity. Best designer behavior:

    • Pick one and present it.
    • Treat the 200 as raw material. Pull the 5-10 distinct directions worth refining and bring designer craft to the refinement.
    • Present all 200 to the client.
    • Discard everything and start manually from scratch.
  2. Q02Image generation rights

You used a public AI image generator for a campaign hero. The output looks like a famous photo. Most likely cause:

    • Pure coincidence.
    • Training data included the source photo; the model can reproduce close variations of specific copyrighted works.
    • A compression artifact.
    • A bad prompt.
  3. Q03Accessibility

AI auto-generates alt text for images. The single biggest risk:

    • Slow processing time.
    • Plausible but inaccurate alt text: wrong race or gender for people, hallucinated objects, missed important visual context. This creates a misleading or harmful experience for screen-reader users.
    • Larger file size.
    • Lower image quality.

Honest tradeoffs

  • · Not a substitute for a design portfolio or a fine arts degree.
  • · Not a vendor cert. No Figma, no Adobe Firefly, no Midjourney exam.
  • · Not a guarantee any client or employer will accept AI-influenced work in their pipeline.

It is proof you can put AI tools in the design process while keeping craft, rights, and accessibility intact.

Frequently asked

Will hiring managers actually look at this?
Portfolio still wins, but recruiters now use the screening conversation to gauge AI literacy. Make it easy for them. Each certificate has a public page at academy.juscode.co/c/<id> (IDs look like jcardesign-2026-AB7K). Paste the URL into LinkedIn's Licenses and Certifications section and into your portfolio's footer. One click and they see issuance date, recipient name, and live status.
Is this a Figma or Adobe cert?
No. The exam is tool-agnostic. The judgment translates to whichever generative or design tool your team adopts next.
Does this cover motion, 3D, or industrial design?
The bank is anchored in product design, brand, and digital experience. The principles (rights, accessibility, craft, brand) carry to adjacent disciplines but the questions are framed for screen-based work.
What if I fail?
Pay $2 to retry once after the 2-hour gate. The retry pulls a fresh question subset.
Will this date quickly as AI tools change?
Tools change. The questions about rights, accessibility, brand stewardship, and craft do not. Certificates are one year valid and the bank refreshes.
Is there a sample of the exam I can try?
Three sample questions on this page are real items from the bank. The take-page randomizes the actual exam from a larger pool.

Before you start

  • · You’ll capture the name on your certificate before the exam starts. It cannot be edited after publishing.
  • · 45 min hard timer. The server auto-submits whatever’s answered when it expires.
  • · One attempt per purchase. Fail it? Pay $2 to retry this cert once after the 2-hour gate. Pass it? You'll receive a 50% off coupon valid 30 days for your next Readiness cert.
  • · Read the honor code. AI-assisted attempts may be reviewed and certificates revoked.

What this changes for you

BEFORE

Your stakeholders ship AI-generated concepts to design reviews and ask why your craft cycle takes longer. You can argue that the gen-AI output lacks taste, but you cannot quite name where it breaks down or what your role becomes when the tooling is everyone's.

AFTER

You can call out the failure modes of a generated mockup, name where your craft is structurally load-bearing, and prove the design judgment a model cannot replicate. Become the designer the team brings in when the AI-only attempt fails.
